SPD had a full slate of officers on the route and was aided by advanced technology, drones in the air and hard barricades such as garbage trucks and camera trailers to ensure safety through a proactive and strategic approach, Cpl. Chris Bordelon said. A primary focus this year was addressing the recurring issue of underage drinking, which has posed safety concerns in the past.
Officers, working alongside Shreveport police vice agents, cited the young drinkers. Officers also successfully intervened to prevent a potential violent incident, Bordelon said. Lee resisted arrest and was found to have a handgun in his waistband. He was charged with simple battery, resisting an officer with force or violence, negligent carrying of a handgun, and interfering with a law enforcement investigation. He now faces multiple charges.
He was found in possession of marijuana and now faces charges of possession of alcohol by a person under 21, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana and disturbing the peace by intoxication. However, thanks to the swift and decisive actions of our officers, potential threats were neutralized before escalating into more serious incidents," Bordelon said.
