After Franklin Thompson was taken into custody in the shooting of his year-old daughter at their Sycamore Township home , investigators learned the incident stemmed from an argument about smoking in the house, prosecutors said. Thompson's other daughter, who had just returned home early Monday morning, found her sister Heather Thompson shot and not breathing. In a panicked and emotional call to , the sister was instructed by a dispatcher to perform CPR until first responders arrived.
Despite the efforts of her sister and emergency medical personnel, Thompson died at Bethesda North Hospital. A short time later, deputies found Franklin Thompson in the same neighborhood as his Sixth Avenue home, where he lived with his two daughters.
Thompson shot his daughter and immediately left the house, prosecutors said, adding that when deputies located Thompson, he still had the weapon and blood spots on his clothes.
During an interview with investigators, Thompson admitted to the shooting and didn't appear to express remorse, prosecutors said. In asking for a lower bond, Thompson's attorney told the judge that he is a U. Army veteran, worked as a truck driver for roughly 30 years and doesn't have a prior criminal history of violence. Thompson is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center awaiting trial.
A grand jury is expected to hear his case by Feb. Emily Hernandez, a Missouri woman pardoned after her ties to the Jan.
