Courtney Clenney is accused of stabbing her boyfriend Christian Obumseli to death in their Miami apartment in April, but had sought pre-trial release under the supervision of her Texas-based parents.
A former OnlyFans model accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death will have to remain in jail at least until the end of her trial, a judge has ruled.
Clenney was arrested for murder in Hawaii in August and extradited to Florida. She was denied bond almost immediately after her return, but her attorneys appealed that decision. Her attorneys countered that she had purchased property in her home state of Texas and could be be under her parents' supervision during home release pending trial. The trial had been scheduled to begin on Dec.
Her lawyers, Frank Prieto and Sabrina Puglisi, stated they planned to appeal, suggesting her money was tied up in the home she purchased and spent on lawyers fees. The judge also granted a motion for continuance in the case on Thursday, and scheduled a status hearing for Feb. Clenney initially claimed that she'd thrown a knife at Obumseli during an argument in their Miami apartment during which he allegedly tried to choke her, but the autopsy revealed a three-inch stab wound that authorities say is inconsistent with that statement, and police stated she had no bruises consistent with an assault.
Prosecutors allege instead that Obumseli was a victim of domestic violence at Clenney's hands, and have released video and audio recordings they say documents her abusive and erratic behavior leading up to the murder. They also released a police bodycam recording of her two days before the murder in which she claimed Obumseli had been stalking her. She had previously been arrested for domestic battery against Obumseli in Las Vegas, had racked up two driving while intoxicated charges one in which she was convicted, with another pending in Texas and police in both Texas and Miami had responded to multiple reports about arguments between the couple, who had been dating less than two years.
