Founded in , the program helps filmmakers refine their artistic voice, build community, and expand their networks. The four-day workshop , held at The Shop at the Contemporary Arts Center CAC , selects six fellows for personalized mentorship from industry professionals. The intensive lab includes workshops and feedback sessions where filmmakers can share and refine their projects, materials, and pitch decks.
Fellows receive guidance from mentors and industry advisors, helping them develop their work. The Emerging Voices Directors Lab equips filmmakers with the tools, mentorship, and network they need to advance their careers.
Fellows will:. A curated group of mentors and advisors provides support through workshops and sessions, empowering fellows to take their projects to the next level. The program is open to early-career filmmakers of color based in South Louisiana, focused on developing a unique artistic voice and sharing their projects. Applications are open to filmmakers with compelling projects and a desire to grow in the industry. Open calls are made in partnership with regional organizations, sponsors, and universities.

We accept Narrative and Documentary short, feature, and episodic projects actively in development, pre-production, production or post-production. Projects must not be picture-locked by the time of the lab and may not premiere before June You may apply to both Emerging Voices and Southern Producers if you qualify.
However, please only submit ONE application to each program. Applicants must be available to participate in-person during the Emerging Voices Lab usually during spring time , which will take place during daytime and possibly evening hours, and the NOFS Gala, which will take place during Springtime.
