IGOR Well-known member. Joined Aug 25, Messages 59 Location Oregon. This post is a long time coming I have been a pathological lurker on GJ for some time - posting here and there once in a great while long time listener, first time caller I have long been a fan of garages.
Growing up, my grandfather owned and still does a rock quarry with a gigantic truck shop - what a fantastic environment to grow up in. I grew up helping my uncles fix dump trucks, bulldozers, etc I have since moved about 4 hours away from grandpa, and long for a man space of my own! My beautiful wife finally broke down or gave up? It is a 36x44 x 15 foot stick built building.
With growing up around big trucks and eqiupment, I like "big" trucks and I cannot lie and working on them in a 22x22 garage wasn't cutting it. In , I bought a '72 Chevy K5 Blazer which in , I did an axle swap and installed an 8" lift on - when I was done it wouldn't fit in the 7' tall garage doors any more - From that, I did tear out the double 7' tall x 8' wide doors and installed a glue lam which allowed a single 16x8' tall door - which was better for a while.
Then in , kids came into the picture and their "stuff" - two kids generate a crap load of stuff! Life happened Anyway, I have been working on getting a shop completed in my backyard. I technically broke ground on it this past Sept - but shop won't be completed until Fall of this year. I broke ground early due to an opportunity with a local business taking said dirt. My uncle who owns a dump truck came and helped over a four day period the weekend after labor day.
