I've heard Honiara is pretty easy to find a fuck but any tips appreciated! I meant to write it up at the time, but forgot.
Most of the action here took place a couple of years ago, and I understand things are now a bit constrained due to Covid, but I hope to visit again once the pandemic is over. Honiara, the capital, is basically one main road from the airport through to the CBD and beyond to the west, where the conurbation starts to thin out. Most people live in settlements in the hills behind the main road.
Honiara is a typical primate city, attracting people from all over this diverse country. It's hot, dusty, muggy and pisses down rain frequently. You can enjoy a beer by the water and watch overcrowded passenger ferries taking people to and from Malaita, Western Province and all points beyond. Anything western you pay for here will be expensive. It's the usual "island economy" syndrome. The only things the Solomons produces of value are Tuna, sea cucumbers and hardwood. A hotel room at the Coral Sea Casino will run you about USD a night, but there are cheaper options if you look around.
Most places are girl friendly. Food is hit and miss and outside the aforementioned Coral Sea, you won't find many options to please the fussy eater.
