Denmark April 26, - Bamberg County sheriff's deputies say an Orangeburg man shot and killed a Bamberg woman on Saturday before turning the gun on himself.
Forty-seven-year-old Genevieve Sanders of Bamberg was pronounced dead at Bamberg County Memorial Hospital of an apparent gunshot to the head. Police say Porter abducted Sanders from her home and led Denmark police officers on a chase through the city.
Officers stopped Porter on Highway But they say that's when Porter shot Sanders and then himself. They met at work, both of them nurses. Billy Porter and Jenny Sanders were a couple for four years. Then the family says she called it off, and he turned violent.
Angela Sweatman is Jenny's oldest daughter, "This can happen to anybody. No matter how much money you have or don't have. It can happen to anybody. Sweatman speaks about Porter's actions, "He would call, he would follow her to restaurants, to Wal-Mart.
He went up and down in front of the house. Jenny ended the relationship in August. The first incident happened in November. Deputies say Porter fired shots outside her house, then pointed the gun at Jenny. He went to jail, then got out on bond. Pat Williams was Jenny's victim's advocate, "Even while the officer was making the report, he called her on the cell phone.
