Chingombe was dismissed for embezzlement of public funds and has pending court cases making him not fit and proper to hold public office and comeback to his position until cleared by the court of law. The councillors who were fingered in the bribery storm were all not available for comment at the time of writing.
All other senior executives facing criminal charges at the corruption riddled HCC have been barred from coming to work until the court cases reach finality. Chingombe is alleged to be using his financial muscle to try and armtwist the system. In June last year, he reportedly met CCC leader Nelson Chamisa as he tried to drum up support for his comeback to Town House where he was acting town clerk the material time.
In his desparate bid of a comeback he also allegedly met Southerton legislator Peter Moyo who is believed to be a nephew to Local Government and Public Works minister July Moyo to enhance his return. On allegations of meeting Chamisa,Chingombe is on record dissociating himself from meeting political figures.
