The Vancouver Island Crisis Society is a registered non-profit agency whose services include hour crisis lines , as well as crisis chat and crisis text services, through which they provide short-term nonjudgemental support, crisis intervention, information, and resources; regional support of Suicide Bereavement Support Group meetings; training in schools with youth, teachers, counsellors, and parents; and various workshops and customized training addressing suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and communication skills for individuals and agencies throughout our communities.
Supports the well-being of children, youth, and families, especially those who are vulnerable, through child and youth mental health services. Provides assessment and therapy support to children and youth up to age 19 who are experiencing difficulties with thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Individual and group therapy is available to children and youth with challenges included depression, anxiety, trauma, or psychosis.
No referral required. Access to counselling is through walk-in intake from 9 am to 12 noon, and 1 pm to 3 pm Wednesdays and Thursdays. Serves Gabriola Island, Ladysmith, and Nanaimo.
Office hours are 9 am to 12 noon, and 1 pm to 4 pm Monday to Friday. LIFT is a program for parents and youth who are experiencing difficulties within the family relationship system. LIFT is a voluntary service that assists and supports parents in their role as caregivers with the goal of promoting parental capacity and maintaining the integrity of family. Services include assessment, treatment, individual and family counselling, education, early intervention and prevention initiatives, and referral to supported residential services, withdrawal management services, and other community resources.
