I have worked in a variety of settings, including spas and clinics but have been in private practice for most of my career.
Massage is an amazing career because it facilitates health and wellness in myself while I simultaneously help others achieve the same. I have worked in many modalities throughout the years but enjoy Hot-Stone and Barefoot techniques most of all.
I have also found those techniques to be extremely effective in helping clients achieve their wellness goals. Since I have also been a practicing wellness coach. Total wellness extends beyond the body to encompass our habits of thought, mood, work, and play.
Our lives are made up of a million tiny routines and habits. How we live each day is how we live our lives. Ashiatsu is a Barefoot Massage technique in which the therapist delivers medium to deep, broad, consistent pressure with feet and bodyweight, working with gravity, instead of against it. The pressure is modified to suit the individual needs of each client. In addition to barefoot work, a combination of hands-on techniques deemed appropriate by the therapist are used.
Hot-Stone Massage is a technique that utilizes warm, stone or ceramic tools to reduce muscle tension and relax the body. There are many different styles of Hot-Stone Massage. In my practice, ceramic stone tools are used for targeted, specific work, in addition to slow, compressive, gliding heat. Hot-Stones are used to warm and relax the muscles, to prepare for the deeper barefoot work.
