Two 'selfish and nasty' men have been jailed for a total of 36 years after they kidnapped a clubber and subjected her to brutal sex attacks. Romeo-Kristian Macovei and Iulian Lupu pounced on their victim when she 'found herself in difficulties' after leaving The Foyer nightclub in Newcastle-under-Lyme, on December 10, The woman thought she may have been spiked , Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court previously heard.
CCTV showed her being ejected from a taxi and slumping on the floor by a wall. The court had heard the defendants had walked by her before Lupu approached her, picked her up and kissed her. The court had been told that the victim, who could "barely stand", had been taken to a Stoke-on-Trent address.
The two men then gave the woman cocaine before she was raped by Macovei, StokeonTrentLive reports. Following a trial, Macovei, of no fixed address, was convicted of kidnap and rape, while Lupu, of no fixed address, was convicted of two charges of sexual assault, kidnap, and committing an offence with the intention of committing a relevant sexual offence.
