A year-old Jacksonville man is facing charges of aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide after authorities say he struck and killed an 8-month-old baby with his car during a domestic dispute Saturday morning. According to investigators, Golden was driving with a female passenger and the infant when an argument erupted between him and the woman, he allegedly removed the baby from the car and left the scene hitting the infant while driving away. Golden is expected to face formal charges in court in the coming days.
According to a post on X by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Justin Golden, 20, was driving with a female passenger and the baby when he and the passenger got into an argument. At some point, Golden took the baby out of the car. As he drove away, he hit the baby, the sheriff's office said. The baby ultimately died. Golden was arrested and booked into jail on charges of aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide, JSO said. Officials have not clarified the relationship between the man and the woman, nor the relationship between the baby. Officials have also not released the name of the baby, nor any details on the woman. As of Monday, the arrest report with the probable cause statement was unavailable.
