At Newport Academy, we address the underlying causes of destructive behaviorsβthe trauma and abandonment wounds that catalyze depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and co-occurring issues.
Our integrated approach guides teens and their families to achieve long-term, sustainable healing from mental health conditions, including maladaptive behaviors such as substance abuse, eating disorders, and self-harm. Our mission is to empower teens and restore families.
Based in clinical expertise and compassionate care, our whole-person treatment model takes into account the physical, psychological, social, educational, and spiritual needs of adolescents. Across our full continuum of care, we offer a blend of evidence-based modalities and experiential therapies that address the medical and life needs of our patients. We support young people ages 12 and up in building authentic connection with self; restoring harmony in the family system; and developing supportive relationships with peers.
We believe treatment works best when it is individually tailored. Our clinical staff conducts a comprehensive evaluation of each teen pre- and post-admission in order to develop a customized, highly detailed treatment plan that is constantly updated based on their progress. Our robust clinical program includes individual and family therapy at least 5 times a week; weekly psychiatry; groups on DBT Skills Training, Anger Management, Relapse Prevention, and Seeking Safety; and daily academic support.
Teens also participate in experiential therapies e. Alhambra Valley Retreat Treatment Center. AVR is credentialed by Kaiser Permanente as a provider of services to over two million insured clients throughout Northern California. The program accepts all Kaiser clients in this region. AVR also accepts cash pay. The program is designed to treat 6 clients at a time, which allows for individualized treatment plans and personal attention to our resident's needs. The treatment program includes individual, group and family therapy with licensed therapists, addiction educational sessions, and recovery and treatment planning designed to help each client transition back to their community after successful treatment stay.
