One day later, officers recovered that girl and another year-old girl from the man's Nashville apartment. Both girls are now safe and back with their families. The court document says " it was discovered " that both girls were at Schellsmidt's residence. Metro Nashville Police officers made contact with both girls at the residence, and the report says officers were able to connect with Schellsmidt as well.
Schellsmidt told officers " he was made aware " that the parents of these 2 girls were frantically looking for them, and admitted that he. The report says Schellsmidt was aware that girl was 12 years old when he picked the pair up in Soddy-Daisy. We created a fake Tinder account with fake photos and a fake birthday to see how exactly age is verified on these apps. Right now, we're working to learn if he is still behind bars, and we'll update this story when we do.
In a release about this case on Sunday, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said that the girls were found with 2 adult males, and said charges are pending for them both.
However, the affidavit we obtained only mentions Schellsmidt, and doesn't mention a second adult male. We have reached out to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office for clarification.
