I've mentioned my efforts at translating German legends and folklore before. Now that I am getting close to my first ebook collection on that topic, it's time to start thinking what else I can do with the information I have gathered.
It is the most popular RPG out there which is important if I ever get around to publishing it , the 5th Edition is currently one of my favorite RPG systems, and the OGL allows for easy creation of third party products. And I do not terribly enjoy coming up with entirely new game systems. On the other hand, pushing the setting into earlier centuries would make it more difficult to use the folklore I am translating - which was largely collected and written down in the 19th century.
Additionally I like the period - after the Peace of Augsburg which allowed for the freer movement of people than ever before, but before the Thirty Years War which would dominate any campaign.
