A newly released affidavit details the alleged sexual assault that ended with year-old Evin Bishop's arrest. A woman told police she was walking to her car when she came across Bishop and locked eyes, according to the affidavit. Bishop then allegedly chased the woman down to her apartment and sexually assaulted her while she was trying to unlock her door.
After putting out pictures of the suspect, police say several tips came in identifying Bishop as the attacker, who lived at an apartment complex on the same block where the alleged attack took place.
Bishop was arrested at his Uptown apartment on Tuesday and charged with sexual assault. Police say he was the victim's neighbor. He lived in an apartment with his mother on the same street where the attack happened. A newly-released affidavit FOX 4 obtained on Wednesday details what took place. Police say a woman left her apartment in the block of Thomas Avenue around 6 a. Monday to walk to her car, according to the arrest affidavit. The woman told police she was rounding the corner at Thomas and Ellis when she walked by a man, later identified as year-old Evin Bishop, the report says.
The woman says she locked eyes with Bishop and had an "unsettling feeling. The woman says she felt like she had to say "no" to Bishop, thinking something bad was about to happen. The affidavit says Bishop then nodded his head up and down, saying yes, and started chasing the woman, according to the police report. The woman said she was screaming for help as she ran to her apartment. She was trying to unlock her front door when Bishop grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her, according to the affidavit.
Dallas police released photos of their suspect and say they received several anonymous tips that their suspect, Bishop, lived on the same block.
