Read righteous indignation by Andrew Breitbart if you haven't already, it'll tell you everything you need to know about HuffPo. He truly understood the enemy better than anyone considering that he came from that world. Everything that he wrote about New York City was spot on. It was partially founded by Andrew Breitbart to give shitlibs a way to expose themselves. It was never "good" but it had a purpose to it's awfulness.
