This is an Exploratory trip doing our classic Trans Africa expedition in reverse, starting on our normal East Africa route south and west from Nairobi to Namibia, but then heading northbound through West Africa all the way to Morocco. The itinerary from Namibia onwards is therefore flexible.
This will take account of road conditions in some parts where there will be rains and plenty of mud, and of where we can apply for necessary visas en-route.
Embarking on this expedition will give you an insight into the varied cultures of both East, West and Central Africa and all the challenges this vast continent can throw at you. There will be days when it will be pretty tough - bad roads, harsh terrains and extremes of climates, but you will also get to experience! Our Nairobi to Nairobi, Gorillas and Gameparks trip can also be added onto the start of this expedition, giving you the chance to visit Rwanda and Uganda, and trek to see the mountain gorillas.
Nairobi , Kenya's capital, is the starting point of our overland expedition and where you will meet your truck, crew and fellow travellers. If you wish, you may like to look at our Gorillas and Gameparks trip which runs immediately before this trip departs Nairobi, with the same truck and crew. This would add a few weeks to your trip and give you the opportunity to visit the Masai Mara in Kenya and travel through both Rwanda and Uganda, including a memorable optional hike to see the mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
On our first day in Nairobi, you have the opportunity to get up close to Africa's tallest mammal when we visit the Langata Giraffe Centre. You will also have free time to visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where Oasis have sponsored Kamboyo, an orphaned elephant.
