The mission of the Town of Aurora Senior Center is to help older adults remain healthy and active through participation in recreational pursuits and to provide the leadership and advocacy to ensure the availability of leisure and recreational opportunities for our seniors. The senior center is an emergency shelter for the Town of Aurora. It is equipped with a generator and will be open during emergencies. Activities and programs at the Senior Center are open to anyone over the age of Sponsored by the Erie County Department of Senior Services and in cooperation with various community agencies.
Seniors over the age of 60 and their spouses can enjoy a hot meal and companionship every weekday at noon. All requests received will be evaluated with a priority on medical- and health-related trips. In an effort to maintain a clean and neat ride for all passengers, no smoking or eating is allowed in the van. To make a reservation, please call at least 48 hours in advance.
The Rural Transit vans run between am to pm, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Dispatch must be called 48 hours in advance and up to two weeks in advance for appointments. Individuals may schedule up to two rides per week. On days your local school is closed due to the weather, the Rural Transit van is closed. Rural Transit riders are not required to contribute for services provided, although donations are accepted and encouraged.
