The Nueces County Community Action Agency has paused some of its financial assistance services as it waits for the Trump administration's temporary freeze on federal grants to be resolved. On Jan. But organizations in Nueces County are wondering how long funds will be on hold as the administration reviews spending on the programs that they rely on to provide assistance to local residents.
The message encourages people to contact their utility company, educational institution or development organization as soon as possible to discuss payment arrangements.

The federal freeze will not impact the organization's programs, said Micaela Stewart, a spokesperson for the food bank. The food bank provides food to a network of more than agency partners such as food pantries, shelters, senior centers and feeding agencies in 11 counties throughout South Texas. Stewart said the nonprofit will continue providing food for families who benefit from SNAP.
