Serving the Shenandoah Valley since All field technicians undergo a day job training period, of which they are taught basic material sciences, construction techniques, and receive Hazmat training prior to field placement.
Geotechnical engineering utilizes the disciplines of rock and soil mechanics to investigate subsurface and geologic conditions. VEPC provides drilling services for our clientele to include test borings with Standard Penetration Testing SPT , rock coring, and percussion hammer drilling to evaluate subsurface conditions, compaction grouting, and alternative foundation systems. VEPC owns drilling rigs, support vehicles, and ancillary equipment to permit immediate scheduling upon request.
VEPC has maintained AASHTO Accreditation status at our Harrisonburg laboratory since and participates in the proficiency sample program, on-site audits, regular equipment calibrations, and continuous quality improvement to ensure consistent and accurate test results. Our laboratory personnel are ready to receive a single sample from a local property owner or process multiple samples to comply with test frequencies for a new landfill cell.
Technicians can also be dispatched to sample materials at the source for stockpiles, quarry products, and concrete coring. Professional engineers with in-depth knowledge of the geology of the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding counties are available to interpret and explain laboratory test results.
VEPC performs geophysical surveys to assist in evaluating subsurface conditions on geotechnically challenged sites. These mapping techniques have been utilized to maximize site designs and minimize karst development costs.
