This project tells the life story of a prostitute in the suburbs of the capital of Angola. But more than documenting the daily life of a woman who succumbed too soon to nightlife and drugs, the project reveals that underneath the scenes that can shock and provoke some kind of revulsion, there is a fragile and sensitive woman, and a loving and dedicated mother. The project thus intends to dismantle biased ideas and preconceptions when talking about prostitution and drugs.
Many times, too, women like Gina desperately want to leave the life they lead and cannot because society does not give them the means to do so. Drugs are invariably a kind of spiritual refuge when there is nothing left but the despair and discouragement of struggling against a destiny that seems to be definitively set. It quickly becomes the faithful companion, always available to grant them a momentary comfort and inner peace they should have in their own right.
However, when they wake up from this false and precarious dream, everything is the same again and their dreams never come true. Under The Yoke Of Drugs.
