Application Window: September 15 β November 30, FCSI is intended for students who would have completed their junior year by Spring expect to graduate in Spring or after , and that are pursuing degrees in math, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or STEM related fields with strong mathematical and computer programming foundations and technical skills relevant to HPC.
FCSI seeks to encourage talented undergraduate students to pursue studies and careers in HPC, by engaging them in exciting, ongoing technical projects that further cultivate their academic and technical talents during the week program. Under mentorship of NSA experts, interns will gain valuable skills in a variety of areas and applications relevant to HPC. Some of the previous FCSI projects include adapting graph, linear algebra, number theory, and data analytics algorithms to supercomputers, or training new machine learning models, including quantum algorithms on specialized computer clusters, or researching the viability of Ising Machines and a non-VonNeumann computer architecture.
At the conclusion of the internship, participants will present the results of their work to NSA Senior leaders, managers, technical personnel, research and academic partners. Can I receive course credit for my internship? No, you will not be receiving course credit. We strongly recommend that you notate the internship on your resume.
