When I first subscribed to the Dish and started seeing the VFYW contests, they seemed impossible, and yet the super-sleuths nailed the windows every week, along with anecdotes, history lessons, movies, and recipes. One day he was there and the next day he was gone. There was no opportunity to say goodbye. Over time, my memories of him have coalesced into a figure who probably is quite different from who my dad actually was, but that is all I have to go on.
