Their purpose is to create positive experiences that develop appropriate leisure and social skills in participants. By developing these skills, participants can become increasingly self-confident, courageous, and independent. Staff are unable to provide personal care, and caregivers are encouraged to accompany participants who need personal care and behavioral assistance. Fees are waived or reduced when possible. The Arc of Spokane provides a variety of opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage in the Spokane community. TYAP has Adulting skills classes, career readiness programs, mentoring programs, and plenty of social opportunities and events.

The Autism Society of Washington promotes lifelong community access through family support, public awareness, advocacy, and collaboration with community partners. Side by Side brings people with and without disabilities together to do fun things in the community such as bike riding, walking, basketball, water rafting, field trips to local farms, prayer groups, home gatherings, etc. Side by Side connects people to one another for friendship and support.
