Over a dozen South Willamette Valley wineries invite visitors to taste their wines and see their vineyards and winemaking operations. Most local wineries are within twenty miles of Eugene - Springfield, and even on the busiest summer days the region has lighter traffic than many other wine tasting destinations.
In the cooler Cellar Season months, the intimate tasting rooms offer unique opportunities to enjoy chance encounters with the winemakers themselves or at least other serious wine connoisseurs. Local guides and chauffeurs offer group, private and customized tours. Your wine guides can also share local lore and show you historical attractions from pioneer trailheads to covered bridges to movie film sites.
Typically, you will select two to four wineries to visit for thirty minutes to forty minutes each. Ask your guide whether tasting fees are included or additional. Many of the wineries offer cheese boards, wood-fired pizza or other small plates; host food trucks onsite; or permit a picnic lunch to be brought in.
