It was a tender-hearted love letter and chronicle of my new life for friends and family back home. Plus, art, illustration, books, writing, and living in an apartment in a busy Turkish city while raising two bilingual wildings.
Love, Rose made room for other blogs and writing outlets, and the apartment became a village house. Farm-girl turned expat, I write fiction and make things pretty. I work on them with gusto, and if you know me IRL, you know there are many, and sometimes they seem wildly incompatible with the others. I began this Substack in honor of living just outside the ordinary. Full disclosure : I may spend more time setting up this humble home online than maintaining it. I worry that I will not have enough to say or try too hard to make it sound beautiful.
My life is a work in progress. I am incredible at deadlines and terrible when put on the spot. Completely obsessed with my moon horoscope, pink pens, manifestation journals, and stacked boxes. A way to break the ice. It is my way of facing the empty page, like the first line of ink on the legal pads I wrote on during hot summers growing up in rural Wisconsin more on legal pads and rural upbringings later! Usable but dusty and missing a toilet paper holder. I will try not to overthink these posts.
