Hi everyone, I am currently a security officer In the Finacial District in Boston, and I am doing research on the types of crime in the City. A Particlular interest is Street prositution. I am interested in this because my work site is located near Chinatown The Old Combat Zone ,Theatre District, and is just a few minutes drive to pretty much anywhere in Boston.
Can anyone shed any light on the street prositution sitution in Boston, or have they all moved out of the city, and into other areas? Thanks, Sean Hickey.
Essentially none. Once in a while a crackhead from out of town drifts into town. Streetwalkers in the Combat Zone are pretty much as much history as the Combat Zone itself is. Back then, Washington St was a big Burlesque. That was they heyday. After the war ended, the bulk of the business of servicing young men dried up, and the market deteriorated. It turned nasty, rotted, and was ultimately gentrified out over the past 15 years. Trixie doesn't walk the street in the age of the internet anymore.
It has seemed that the streetwalkers have gone underground, the internet, or they have moved out all together. I have heard rumors that streetwalkers are making a comeback in certain areas around the city. Here is a repost Last night and early this morning, officers engaged in the use of directed patrols and the use of a plain clothes officer working in an unmarked car to address the issue. A short while later, officers observed a car pull up to this woman, speak briefly to her and then she got in the car.
