You should be able to reason with the nine year old, but that just doesn't work with the toddlers! I was spanked a grand total of twice. If I have children, I would do all I could to discipline them without physical means. The corner, revoking priveleges, etc will be more my speed. I was spanked by my parents I even had a wooden spoon used on me and I came out wonderful. I have no qualms about spanking my kids if they need it, I'm not talking about daily, but when the situation warrants.
