We have more newsletters. Kink and bondage have had a storied history over the last decade, being thrust into the public imagination when Fifty Shades of Grey became a sensation in And Cambridge is no different, with BDSM in the city getting a boost after the publication of the erotic novel. We've rounded up some of the key moments for the city's kink and bondage scene over the years. Previously Cambridge Kink and Cambridge Munch had met up in a city pub to thrash out ways to tie and tease each other.
We caught up with them in after their fetish night was defended by the landlady of the Corner House pub in Newmarket Road. The pub once hosted a monthly meeting for the fetish group where members could don fetish clothing and discuss the alternative lifestyle in a private room at the venue.
The Corner House pub, which is about to undergo a refurbishment, has since been taken over by new management and no longer holds the monthly meetings. Around people come and over the last six months demand for fetish events has increased. Men and women from all walks of life attend. A story broken by Cambridgeshire Live revealed that spanking and tea in a village hall was planned - but it was all hush hush.
The hall was to host a series of workshops including "spanking and impact play", "kink on a budget" and "flogging", in an event organised by Peer Rope Cambridge. There would be demonstrations of caning, flogging and spanking and classes promised to offer fetish fans affected by the economic downturn tips on how to indulge in their fantasies on a budget. The day of flogging and bondage talk was due to end with a request from organisers for help in stacking up the chairs and collapsible tables.
It seemed Cambridge wasn't quite ready to broadcast some of its inhabitants' liking for a bit of BDSM with tea and biscuits.
