Cliftonville Academy U13 opened their season with a home game against Carrickfergus. Captain Adam Orr lost the toss and Carrick opted to bat first.
Harry Salt also took a wicket in his first over although the rest of the innings was marred by some inconsistent line and length which allowed Carrick to post 86 for 2 after 20 overs.
Rex Henderson anchored the innings top scoring with 22 including two fours and a six in the penultimate over leaving CACC needing 7 to win.
Unfortunately the Carrick bowler held his nerve taking a wicket off the final delivery leaving CACC short by one run. This was an exciting start to the season. Several players made their debuts tonight and will have learnt an awful lot. The next game for the U13 is on Wednesday night against Laurelvale in the cup. Now I am going to do my breakfast, later than having my breakfast coming yet again to read additional news. Everyone loves it when folks get together and share thoughts.
