However, like any other place, the challenges become more and more grandiose the older you get. Being a food desert, good, fresh food becomes hard to come by, and resources are scarce.
What happens when adversity hits a community depends on the people who make up that community. What I have experienced is a tremendous cooperative effort to create solutions. Farms that deliver fresh produce free, traveling doctors who make monthly visits to take care of the elderly population in a remote town, and endless admiration for the miners, nurses, and other professions that built the community from the ground up. All groups of people are only as strong as the community that surrounds them.
