Brodie Wins District D. Newcomer Wasserman Takes District A. With only 50 votes separating long-time commissioner, Becky Tooley and newcomer Jeffrey Wasserman, the latter will take the dais next week. Voters will decide three things Tuesday. First, to elect a candidate to District D.
Second, to elect a candidate to District A. Third, to eliminate the appointment process for commissioners in the City Charter. But rather an appointment process whereby the Seat was advertised to residents of District D and a candidate was chosen by city commissioners.
The Charter amendment Tuesday prevents that from happening again. At the time, commissioners selected John Brodie from a field of five. Now to keep his seat, Brodie faces Alfred Delgado and Nancy Fry on the ballot Tuesday as a first-time candidateβnot a re-elect.
Tooley has been in office for more than 20 years and has made Coconut Creek her life. SMCX [],e. In a hotly contested race, Nancy Fry pulls ahead of the pack, landing one of 36 endorsements nationwide from Run For Something, an organization devoted to helping young progressives run for down-ballot races. The median age of the residents of the city of Coconut Creek is 40 years old.
