The girlfriend of the man accused of killing a family of four in southwest suburban Romeoville was involved in the crime, police said. Romeoville police said Ermalinda Palomo knew about Nathaniel Huey's intent to kill the family and drove the car to the scene of the crime.
An autopsy determined Myrtle Simmons-Brown died from blunt force trauma. Prosecutors said Brown's DNA was found under her nails. Latrice Phillips, 51, is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of year-old Calvin Truitt.
