Neighborly is dedicated to improving the lives of older persons in need of home and community-based services who reside in Pinellas County, Florida. Helene and Milton Update. Fourteen cars are total losses. Four buses need considerable repair. We use these vehicles for meal delivery and transporting vulnerable seniors to Adult Day Care, Senior Dining, grocery shopping, and medical appointments.
We also lost a freezer truck. As soon as the storms had passed our staff was working to resume services to our seniors, especially to any Meals on Wheels clients who have been displaced to ensure they can still receive their meals.
With the loss of Neighborly vehicles, and affordable rental cars in short supply, we must rely on taxis to get seniors to physical therapy, dialysis, and other medical appointments. Neighborly is a pioneer in providing quality home and community-based services.
We understand the responsibility caregivers have each day. We are committed to providing our clients and their families with the highest quality services as we offer resources to allow seniors to remain in their homes longer. In a touching tribute, seniors who rely on vital services like Meals on Wheels, transportation assistance, and compassionate care express their deep appreciation to the dedicated volunteers who brighten their days.
Our Meals on Wheels program served over , nutritious home-delivered meals in the last year. Just as important is the reassurance and encouragement our volunteers offer, too. Neighborly Senior Care Network has been a leader in providing people 60 and older with hot, nutritious meals at their homes since its start in , as one of the first federally funded Meals on Wheels programs in the nation.
